Buccaneers place CB Carlton Davis on injured reserve with injured quad

The defending-champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without one of their starting cornerbacks for the foreseeable future.

According to multiple reports, Bucs fourth-year cornerback Carlton Davis has been placed on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury.

Davis suffered the injury during the team's Week 4 victory over the New England Patriots. Per Buccaneers senior writer/editor Scott Smith, head coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday that he didn't think Davis would be back in action "anytime soon."

Being on injured reserve means that the 24-year-old will be on the shelf for at least the next three games.

"Davis joins Sean Murphy-Bunting on that list as the Bucs are now without two of their opening-week cornerbacks," Smith wrote. "Murphy-Bunting went on injured reserve after suffering a dislocated elbow in the season opener, and Arians is similarly not expecting him back in the lineup soon."

In four games this season, Davis has recorded 15 tackles, five passes defended and one interception. The Buccaneers host the Miami Dolphins in Week 5 at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
