Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones having pin placed in fractured pinkie finger

Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting running back Ronald Jones suffered a fractured pinky finger early in Sunday's 26-14 win over the Minnesota Vikings but nevertheless led his team with 80 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

It proved to be a costly result for the 23-year-old.

ESPN's Jenna Laine and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Jones will undergo a procedure to have a pin placed in the injured pinky. While one may assume Jones will miss at least this coming Sunday's contest against the Atlanta Falcons, the Bucs aren't yet ruling him out.

A decision on Jones' status will be made later in the week.

Leonard Fournette is second on the Buccaneers with 271 rushing yards but has averaged 3.9 yards per carry this season and was made a healthy scratch (coach's decision) for the showdown with Minnesota. Veteran LeSean McCoy tallied 32 yards on four carries versus the Vikings and could become a temporary lead ball-carrier if Jones can't play at Atlanta.

Along with Fournette and McCoy, coach Bruce Arians could also turn to rookie Ke'Shawn Vaughn. Vaughn has largely been a nonfactor except for when he rushed for 42 yards on five carries in Tampa's 38-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 18.
