Tom Brady has quickly established himself as one of the biggest stars on the Florida sports scene after joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and his newfound fame in the Sunshine State now will be used to raise money for charity.

State of Florida officials have confirmed, per TMZ Sports, that license plates that bear the likeness of the six-time Super Bowl champion and three-time NFL MVP will soon be made available. Once 3,000 Floridians sign on for the custom plates, production will quickly get underway.

The concept of Brady vanity plates stem in large part over how a majority the proceeds from sales will benefit Best Buddies, a nonprofit that assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that counts Brady as one of its biggest supporters. Of the $35 fee for the plates, $25 go directly to the foundation.

“With his recent move to Florida, we are incredibly excited to team up with long-time Global Ambassador Tom Brady for the new Best Buddies specialty license plate,” the founder and CEO of Best Buddies International, Anthony K. Shriver, said.

“Since 2003, Tom has proven himself to be a committed advocate for individuals with disabilities, and we’re grateful that his commitment to our mission-driven initiatives will continue to create friendships, jobs, leadership development training, and inclusive living opportunities for people with special abilities here in the sunshine state.”

Brady, a Global Ambassador for Best Buddies, enjoyed a long relationship with the organization during his two-decade run with the New England Patriots. The star signal-caller, however, did step down last December as Honorary Co-Chair of the Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port after 16 years.

That decision, however, can be attributed to how Brady wasn’t expected to remain in the New England region following his split with the Patriots.

It’s clear from this latest development that Brady intends to continue to his longstanding support Best Buddies, only he will be doing so for the charity’s operations in a state that he clearly plans to set down roots for the long haul.
