Buccaneers release WR Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown's wild ride with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially came to a close on Thursday.

The latest and perhaps most bizarre chapter of the "AB" saga began during the Buccaneers' Week 17 win over the New York Jets. In the third quarter, Brown stripped off his jersey, shoulder pads, gloves and undershirt on the sideline, threw many of the items to fans in the crowd and shuffled across the end zone while throwing up "peace signs" to the audience before leaving the field.

Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians said following the game on Sunday that Brown was "no longer a Buc" after the ordeal, but Brown wasn't officially released until Thursday. On Sunday night, the former Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots superstar took to Instagram to thank the Buccaneers for his supposed release and then dropped a new rap song.

Prior to his final game in a Tampa Bay uniform, Brown also previously served a three-game suspension for having a fake vaccine card before returning to action in Week 16.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Brown was still technically a member of the Bucs' organization, and even after Sunday's meltdown, some NFL teams were interested in bringing in the wideout. Arians doubled down on Wednesday and said that the seven-time Pro Bowler wouldn't play with the team again.

Prior to the news of his release, Brown spent much of Thursday morning posting text exchanges with Tom Brady's trainer (Alex Guerrero), as well as Arians, on social media.
