Buccaneers' Tom Brady confirms he underwent knee surgery

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady humorously admitted during Tuesday's appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" that he wasn't thinking at his absolute best when he famously tossed the Vince Lombardi Trophy during last month's celebrations of his seventh Super Bowl championship.

The 43-year-old who has, throughout the years, been tight-lipped about his health and football-related injuries also admitted that he is recovering from surgery on his left knee.

"I actually had knee surgery, so I’m kind of rehabbing now, which is giving me something to do, although I’d much rather be kind of staying active like I normally do," Brady said, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The news is hardly surprising, as Ben Volin of the Boston Globe tweeted on Feb. 11 that Brady required "more than just a little clean-up" on the knee. "When it comes out, all this does is build his legend even greater," Volin added, which left many guessing about what exactly Brady was dealing with en route to earning a fifth Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award.

Tampa Bay coach Bruce Arians said last week that he expects Brady will remain sidelined until "somewhere around June." Despite the setback, Brady spoke with quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen about preparations for the 2021 season the day after Super Bowl LV.
