Buccaneers' Tom Brady not practicing amid marriage, shoulder reports

In what may be a pleasant surprise for some teammates and others, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is in the headlines for reasons actually related to football. The 2-2 Bucs prepare to host the 2-2 Atlanta Falcons this coming Sunday.

As Nick Shook pointed out for the NFL's website, Brady was with the Buccaneers on Wednesday but was not participating in practice. Meanwhile, head coach Todd Bowles missed the workday due to an unspecified personal matter.

The update on Brady is significant for multiple reasons. It came less than 24 hours after stories surfaced claiming that the 45-year-old and wife Gisele Bundchen have hired divorce attorneys amid ongoing rumors about alleged marital issues that supposedly have left the relationship "beyond saving" as things currently stand. Brady's off day also occurred after he appeared to hurt his throwing shoulder during this past Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brady insisted during Monday's edition of the "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast that his shoulder was "doing OK," and the Joe Bucs Fan website noted that Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the seven-time Super Bowl champion is dealing with "a little rotator cuff" that is "not believed to be something major."

Remember, though, that Brady previously reversed course and practiced during the midweek after Bowles had confirmed his QB1 would take Wednesdays off as scheduled maintenance days this season.

In short, there continue to be more questions than answers about Brady as it pertains to multiple subjects ahead of Week 5 of the campaign.
