For the first time since using their #1 overall pick on Kyler Murray in 2019, the Cardinals have drafted a quarterback.
In the 5th round, at #139 overall, Arizona picked up QB Clayton Tune out of the University of Houston.
Tune played five seasons in college, improving year after year. In his final season, the 6’3, 220-pound quarterback threw for over 4000 yards and a total of 40 touchdowns.
But, not only does Clayton Tune bring talent, but he also has some historical ties. Interestingly, Tune’s great-great-uncle, Jim Lawrence, was the Cardinals’ first-ever draft pick as an organization back in 1936.
Clayton Tune will add some depth to the Cardinals quarterback problem, as they will be without Kyler Murray for at least six weeks.
With Colt McCoy turning 37 years old at the start of the season, it is still unsure who will cover for Murray while he recovers from his ACL surgery.
