Cardinals star WR DeAndre Hopkins out vs. Rams due to knee injury

The Arizona Cardinals still don't know if star defensive end J.J. Watt will be available for the upcoming "Monday Night Football" wild-card game at the Los Angeles Rams as the three-time Defensive Player of the Year continues to rehab his surgically repaired shoulder ahead of Thursday's practice.

Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury was, however, able to confirm bad news regarding a different All-Pro talent on Wednesday.

Per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Kingsbury told media members out of Los Angeles that elite wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins won't be ready to go against the Rams despite having the extra day of rest through the weekend. Hopkins hasn't taken the field since he suffered a knee injury against the Rams on Dec. 13 that ultimately required him to have surgery. It was said at that time the 29-year-old would remain out of the lineup for approximately six weeks of action but could potentially return for at least a portion of the playoffs.

Hopkins, who missed time earlier in the fall with a hamstring issue, ended a frustrating regular season with 42 catches for 572 yards and eight touchdowns.

As for Watt, Kingsbury said Wednesday the five-time All-Pro has "basically done everything humanly possible" to play against the Rams. Watt, meanwhile, told reporters no decision on his status will be made until closer to Monday.
