GLENDALE -- Arizona Cardinals TE Noah Togiai isn't the first name that comes to mind when assessing the tight end depth here in the desert - or the second, or perhaps even the third.

Tight end Zach Ertz is still rehabbing a torn ACL suffered in November of 2022 and was placed on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list ahead of training camp. Backup tight end Trey McBride has been suited up for most practices and has gone through some early install, but hasn't been much of a participant when it comes to seven-on-seven or team activities.

Even the newly signed Geoff Swaim has already battled the injury bug.

The Cardinals currently have seven tight ends with them in camp, though one name has stood out thus far: Noah Togiai.

Togiai first entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020 with the Philadelphia Eagles, though he didn't make the team's final roster and was claimed by the Indianapolis Colts.

Togiai eventually made his way back to the Eagles, where current Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon was on staff as their defensive coordinator. Togiai was signed by the Cardinals three days after Gannon took the job in Arizona.

From a physical aspect, Togiai doesn't jump off the page. His 6-4, 244 lb frame is nearly identical to every other tight end in Arizona. His seven career games with one target and no catches with 34 special teams snaps doesn't exactly separate him either.

Yet he's been making the most of his newfound opportunity in the desert, gaining time with the first team while others in front of him are injured and reeling in passes when targeted.

After the team's Red and White practice over the weekend, he met with reporters in the locker room:
