CFL's Roughriders cut Broncos bust Paxton Lynch

Former Denver Broncos first-round pick Paxton Lynch couldn't cut it in the NFL and he's not finding much success in the Canadian Football League either. On Monday, Lynch was released by the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the team announced.

Lynch, 28, never threw a pass for the Roughriders after signing with them in June 2021. Instead he was buried on the depth chart behind Saskatchewan's starter Cody Fajardo, who threw 14 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions in the 2021 season. Isaac Harker also saw time at quarterback with the Roughriders.

In the NFL, Lynch made just four career starts and threw four touchdown passes and four interceptions. He was released by the Broncos in September 2018, just over two years after Denver picked him 26th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. He later had brief stints with the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers, but never made a regular season appearance with either team.

The 6-foot-7 former Memphis Tigers quarterback is arguably the worst first-round quarterback of the 21st century.
