Chad Johnson shares bold take on struggling Eagles

Retired star wide receiver and current "Inside the NFL" personality Chad Johnson has a bold take on a Philadelphia Eagles side that seems to be limping into this coming Monday's prime-time wild-card playoff game at the 9-8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"I know Eagles fans, y’all are upset," Johnson said in a video he posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, per Justin Terranova of the New York Post. "I think they are going to fix it. I think the Eagles players are playing possum."

The Eagles represented the NFC in Super Bowl LVII last February, where they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia then began the ongoing campaign at 10-1 before a 42-19 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13 seemed to send the NFC East club into a tailspin. In total, the Eagles dropped five of six games to end the regular season, and their only win across those contests was a narrow 33-25 home victory over the New York Giants (6-11) on Christmas Day.

There continue to be whispers suggesting that Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni could find himself on the hot seat if Philadelphia loses at Tampa Bay's Raymond James Stadium. As shared by Michael Dixon of Awful Announcing, "Eagles Postgame Live" host Michael Barkann ripped a Philadelphia team that was "without passion, without intensity, without extra effort, without want-to" following this past Sunday's 27-10 loss at the Giants.

Johnson clearly isn't as down on the Eagles ahead of the postseason tournament.

"I know what they are doing," Johnson continued while speaking about the Eagles. "They are letting their bodies reset, their minds to mentally reset and watch what happens come playoff time. Watch what happens next week. Watch what I tell you. I tell you no lie...Watch what them boys do. I know it. I am familiar with their game. I know what they are doing."

As of Tuesday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook listed the Eagles as three-point favorites against the Buccaneers. Perhaps those wagering on the game share Johnson's opinion following Week 18.
