After a disappointing end to their 2021 season, the Los Angeles Chargers made massive upgrades to their roster, especially on defense.

They’ve added Sebastian Joseph-Day on the defensive line and Khalil Mack at linebacker.

The Chargers also fortified their secondary with cornerback J.C. Jackson.

Those players should help the likes of Joey Bosa, Derwin James Jr., and Asante Samuel Jr. shake off the defense’s tag as the team’s Achilles heel.

They acquired that distinction because of their high-powered offense with Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen, and Mike Williams.

The team should be ready to compete in 2022, especially within a highly-competitive AFC West against the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos, and Kansas City Chiefs.

But before the Chargers get into the grind of preparing for another campaign, they’ve added a cute twist to their media day.

One player said, “We really came here for the puppies.”

The video featured the light moments of Bosa, Austin Johnson, and Isaiah Spiller, among many others.

But while they cuddle puppies during media day, the Chargers would like to be big dogs on the field.

Chargers Ready To Make The Big Jump

Their first year under head coach Brandon Staley was marked by a hyper-aggressive scheme that goes for an offensive play on fourth down even if it seems questionable.

Staley got some criticism for those decisions, but he defended himself by merely basing his judgment on statistics.

This year, the Chargers hope that they don’t need fourth down as often to keep the ball moving.

They have the personnel that can win games, only if they keep their intensity level high throughout the game.

Consistency will be the key to their success in 2022.
