The Los Angeles Chargers are adding another college coach to their NFL ranks. After adding multiple staff pieces from the Michigan Wolverines, they are grabbing a piece from Notre Dame.

The Chargers are hiring Fighting Irish safeties coach Chris O'Leary as their new safeties coach.

The Irish offered O'Leary a pay raise, but he wanted to go to the NFL, according to Tyler Horka. O'Leary worked under new Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter at Georgia State. They have a strong relationship.

Derwin James should be excited about this hire for Los Angeles.

James is already a top safety in the NFL, but now, his safeties coach is one with experience with guys like Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Kyle Hamilton in recent years. Both of those guys are ascending stars in the NFL as hybrid players.
