Chiefs add WR Josh Gordon to active roster ahead of Bills game

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters Monday that former All-Pro wide receiver and recent acquisition Josh Gordon had "a chance" to make his team debut in the upcoming "Sunday Night Football" matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter (h/t Adam Teicher) and other outlets, the Chiefs officially promoted Gordon to the 53-man roster on Tuesday, a move that indicates the 30-year-old will be in the lineup and on the field this Sunday.

Gordon signed with the Chiefs coming off the club's Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers but was unavailable for this past Sunday's 42-30 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles because he was working himself into game shape and learning the team's playbook. He was reinstated from a sixth career suspension last month after he completed his latest treatment program, but he hasn't faced an NFL defense in a meaningful game since 2019 when he was with the Seattle Seahawks.

Gordon earned his only All-Pro nod in 2013 when he led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards and also accumulated 87 catches and nine receiving touchdowns with the Cleveland Browns. It remains to be seen what he still has in the tank and if he can stay eligible through the rest of 2021 and the start of the playoffs.
