Chiefs All-Pro to host 'Saturday Night Live'
Following another All-Pro season and an impressive performance in the Chiefs' victory in Super Bowl LVII, there's only one thing left for star tight end Travis Kelce to do: host "Saturday Night Live."
On Thursday, appearing as a guest on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Kelce revealed he'll host the legendary sketch comedy show on March 4.
"I was a huge [Chris] Farley, [Will] Ferrell, Fallon kind of guy growing up," Kelce said. "I used to watch Saturday Night Live with my mother, and it's an absolute honor and a privilege to be hosting SNL."
Kelce, one of the NFL's more colorful characters, isn't bashful in front of the camera or the microphone and is seemingly a natural performer off the football field. Kelce sings from time to time, and his goofy and charismatic personality stands out on each episode of "New Heights," the podcast he co-hosts with older brother Jason Kelce.
Hosting "SNL" has been months in the making for Kelce. Last September, the Chiefs started a petition on Twitter to get Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the show after "SNL" cast member Heidi Gardner chose the duo when asked who she'd like to see host the most.
Kelce will be the latest NFL player to host "SNL" and the first since the recently retired J.J. Watt appeared on the show in 2020.
