Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes can become youngest QB to start three Super Bowls

The Kansas City Chiefs made history earlier this week when they became the betting favorite for a 13th consecutive playoff game, an NFL record for the Super Bowl era. Of course, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is no stranger to rewriting record books even though he turned only 26 years old this past September.

Per the Chiefs' website, Mahomes is already the youngest quarterback in history to be named a Super Bowl Most Valuable Player, the youngest player to ever win league MVP and a Super Bowl title, and the youngest signal-caller in NFL history to start in two Super Bowls, a feat he achieved last February before Kansas City ultimately fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, an opponent somewhat ironically guided by ageless wonder Tom Brady.

Don't look now, but Mahomes is potentially four quarters away from adding another accomplishment to the list.

According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Mahomes will become the youngest quarterback in history to start three Super Bowls with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Sunday's AFC Championship unless he's unable to participate in the big game for whatever reason.

The current holder of that record is none other than Brady, who may be days, weeks or months away from retiring at the age of 44.

For those interested in such things, Mahomes began Friday afternoon as FanDuel's betting favorite to win Super Bowl MVP honors two weeks from Sunday at +170.
