Chiefs set record as betting favorite for 13th straight playoff game

The Chiefs are a touchdown favorite against the Cincinnati Bengals in most sportsbooks, so barring something drastic that swings the line toward the Bengals, Kansas City is likely to be the favorite in the AFC Championship.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, that means the Chiefs will make history Sunday as the betting favorite in an NFL-record 13 consecutive playoff games.

That streak dates back to before Patrick Mahomes was even drafted by the Chiefs. In January 2017, Kansas City was a slight favorite for a playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers after Alex Smith led the Chiefs to a 12-4 record and a first-round bye. While the Chiefs lost, they were again a favorite in January 2018 against the Tennessee Titans and again came up short.

Mahomes took over as the Chiefs' starter in the 2018 regular season and has led Kansas City to a 50-13 record in regular-season games and four consecutive trips to the AFC Championship Game. A win over the Bengals would earn Kansas City a trip to a third consecutive Super Bowl.

The Los Angeles Rams are a small favorite for their matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
