Chiefs star Travis Kelce shines when Taylor Swift shows up

The Kansas City Chiefs fan base doesn't need to worry about pop star Taylor Swift distracting star tight end Travis Kelce.

Kelce and Swift are in a rumored romance, and the eight-time Pro Bowler excels when the 12-time Grammy winner attends Chiefs games, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter:

On Sunday, Kelce had a season-high 12 receptions for a season-high 179 yards and a touchdown in a 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Swift was at Arrowhead Stadium and apparently wore a No. 87 bracelet. While correlation doesn't imply causation, it's hard to believe there's no connection between Kelce's excellent play and Swift's appearances.

When a player becomes an uber-celebrity, it can negatively affect his performance. Kelce is thriving, however, proving he can handle the increased spotlight.

"He goes from 'Saturday Night Live,' walking out of a mansion getting every single step he has kinda documented to having his best game on the field," ESPN personality Pat McAfee said Monday on "The Pat McAfee Show." "Travis is built for this moment. The Chiefs are built for this situation."

Kansas City is 6-1 and has a strong chance to become the first team to repeat as Super Bowl champions in nearly 20 years. OddsChecker gives it the second-best Super Bowl odds (+475) behind the San Francisco 49ers (+460).

To accomplish their goal, the Chiefs need Kelce to keep dominating — so don't be surprised if they're open to Swift coming to more games.

"Kelce keeps getting better with time. Taylor can stay around all she wants," Chiefs head coach Andy Reid quipped in a postgame news conference.
