The stage is now set.

The Kansas City Chiefs will open the 2024 NFL season against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7:20 p.m. CT on NBC. They'll get to hang their Super Bowl LVIII banner  ahead of a rematch of the AFC Championship Game. Baltimore will get a shot at revenge when Kansas City celebrates their latest Super Bowl title, but the oddsmakers aren't quite on their side.

According to the folks at DraftKings Sportsbook, the Chiefs are 3-point favorites against the Ravens in Week 1. The over/under point total is 47.5 points. The Kansas City moneyline is currently listed at -155, giving the Chiefs a 61% implied win probability. The Baltimore moneyline is listed at +130, giving the Ravens a 43.4% implied win probability.

Now, these opening night betting odds might seem a bit familiar to you. That's because it's the inverse situation from the AFC Championship Game against the Ravens. Despite back-to-back wins over the Miami Dolphins in K.C. and the Buffalo Bills on the road, the Chiefs entered the AFC title game as three-point underdogs and with a +140 money line. Kansas City went on the road to Baltimore and upset the home team en route to their third Super Bowl title of the Patrick Mahomes era.

This time around it's the Ravens traveling to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and playing the underdog role. They'll have all the emotional motivation they need after the AFC title game loss last year. Will the Chiefs be able to match the fire and energy that Baltimore will surely bring?

With 115 days to go until this game takes place, it'll be interesting to monitor and see how the betting odds move and shift throughout the offseason. Injuries during training camp and the preseason could move the betting line in one direction or the other. One thing that could shift the odds in favor of Baltimore is a potential suspension of Chiefs WR Rashee Rice
