Ever since Kirk Cousins parted ways with the Minnesota Vikings, the biggest concern stepping into the next season has been to find a potential quarterback to take over the lead. Given that the franchise has the No. 11 overall pick there’s a highly likely possibility they might miss on prospective QBs.

Though the Vikings inked Sam Darnold in the backing, they remained in search of a quarterback for the starting role. It became more evident when they acquired two first-round picks from the Houston Texans

But looks like Colin Cowherd has a solution for the Vikings quarterback situation. As he suggested if the franchise bundles up their first two picks and moves up to acquire the no. 3 pick of the New England Patriots, they can have a better fit in Drake Maye than J.J. McCarthy, whose name has been associated with the Vikings for the past several weeks.

This is an offense that doesn’t need a spectacular playmaking quarterback. If Drake Maye goes to Minnesota, he’s going to succeed . said Colin Cowherd on a recent episode of his podcast, ‘The Herd.’

Cowherd argued that Maye is not a playmaker such as Caleb Williams, who is the No. 1 pick, and in such case, he needs a strong offensive line behind him which the Vikings can provide.

Drake Maye aside, Vikings’ possible trade for a higher draft position

The bidding war over the Patriots’ No. 3 pick began when their new head coach Jerod Mayo asserted that they were open to trading the pick if finds a worthy offer. Given, that they do not need a quarterback at the moment, the Vikings are considered the best to acquire that pick.

If a deal ought to happen, the Vikings may trade their 11th and 23rd overall pick along with the 2025 third-round pick to acquire the No. 3 pick and draft Maye. He is widely regarded as the second-best quarterback of his class.

The Patriots are in their rejuvenating phase after having one of the worst rosters in the league. They could utilize the two first-round picks of the Vikings in their best interest.
