The Indianapolis Colts beat the buzzer with wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL media, the Colts have re-signed Pittman to a three-year deal, preventing him from reaching free agency this week.

Exact details of the contract have not yet been revealed.

Indianapolis is entering the offseason with expansive cap room, so the fact that it has already agreed to a contract with Pittman is not too surprising.

Pittman is coming off of a brilliant 2023 campaign in which he played 16 games and hauled in 109 receptions for 1,152 yards and four touchdowns.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at USC, was selected by the Colts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He had a relatively uneventful rookie year, appearing in 13 contests and logging 40 catches for 503 yards and a score. Then, the following season, Pittman broke out, catching 88 passes for 1,082 yards while reaching the end zone six times.

It looked like Pittman was ready to ascend into the upper echelon of wide outs in football, but in 2022, the Woodland Hills, Ca. native took a bit of a step back, snaring 99 balls for 925 yards and four touchdowns in what was a pretty inefficient campaign.

As a result, there were some questions about Pittman heading into 2023, but Pittman certainly answered the bell, putting forth the best year of his career to date.

The Colts went 9-8 and just missed the playoffs this past season, and they did that without starting quarterback Anthony Richardson, who was sidelined due to a shoulder injury.

We will see what Michael Pittman Jr. and Co. have in store for 2024.
