Colts' Darius Leonard thinks Cam Newton will shine with Patriots in 2021
The New England Patriots made a couple of signings on Monday, including tight end Jonnu Smith and defensive tackle Davon Godchaux. One member of the Indianapolis Colts thinks Cam Newton will shine in 2021, with Bill Belichick spending to build around him.
Darius Leonard voiced support for Newton via Twitter on Monday, saying the former MVP is a "baller."
Belichick frequently lauded Newton last season for his work ethic and determination. Unfortunately, the 31-year-old struggled after testing positive for COVID-19 and even admitted that the virus set him back for the entire season.
Luckily, Newton will have the opportunity to learn the Patriots' system better in 2021 and also will hopefully have a more normal training camp this summer. If he takes advantage of the extra time, the three-time Pro Bowler will likely be better next season.
