The Indianapolis Colts placed safety Julian Blackmon on injured reserve Tuesday and signed safety Henry Black from the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad.

Blackmon injured his shoulder during the first half of Sunday's 29-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and did not return. He will miss the final two games of the regular season but could return if the Colts make a run in the playoffs.

Blackmon, 25, had a career-high 15 starts this season with 88 tackles, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries. In four seasons and 50 games for the Colts (46 starts), Blackmon has 214 tackles and seven interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

Black, 26, has 25 games of NFL experience but has not made a start. He appeared in all 17 games for the Green Bay Packers last season, recording 38 tackles with an interception and a forced fumble.
