The Indianapolis Colts recently hosted a Kansas City Chiefs safety on a free agent visit.

According to the NFL's personnel notice for Monday, the Colts hosted Chiefs S Mike Edwards for a visit in free agency. A former third-round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of the University of Kentucky in 2019, Edwards joined Kansas City on a one-year deal in 2023.

While he had a very successful campaign with the Chiefs last season, he was not among the defenders they retained. He became an unrestricted free agent at the onset of the 2024 NFL free agency period.

Edwards' visit did not yet result in a deal with Indianapolis, but they've got some big needs to fill in the defensive secondary.

This is the first known interest by a team in the former Chiefs defender who appeared in 17 regular season games with five starts in 2023. He recorded 51 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and two fumble recoveries, including one returned 101 yards for a TD. The 27-year-old started all four games for Kansas City during the postseason, recording 12 total tackles, an interception, and two passes defended.

Wherever he winds up, Edwards will bring a Super Bowl pedigree, and perhaps some luck. Every NFL team he's ever played for has won a Super Bowl while he's been on the roster. Edwards won Super Bowl LV with the Buccaneers and Super Bowl LVIII with the Chiefs.
