Commanders' Taylor Heinicke bought lineman Air Jordans to celebrate win over Eagles

At the start of the 2022 season, Washington Commanders quarterback Taylor Heinicke started a tradition of buying Air Jordans in the opponents' colors after a victory.

Following Monday night's win over the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles, Heinicke purchased a pair of "Green Metallic" Jordan 4s, as is customary. However, according to ESPN's John Keim, he took things a step further after such a big victory.

A day after revealing on the Pat McAfee Show that he might buy Jordans for his offensive lineman, too, he delivered.

"They've been busting their a— all year, they need to be compensated for that," Heinicke told reporters. "I ordered some Js for the starting line this past week. Heck, if they keep doing that they'll be getting some more."

Heinicke finished 17-of-29 for 211 yards and an interception but helped seal the Commanders' win on Monday by drawing a roughing the passer penalty late in the game.

The 29-year-old has led the Commanders to a 2-2 mark in four starts, posting a 61.9% completion percentage, throwing for 840 yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions.

While starting quarterback Carson Wentz was cleared to begin throwing this week while he continues his rehab from a hand injury, Ron Rivera confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that Heinicke would start at least one more game this Sunday against the Houston Texans.
