The Falcons have been busy on the free agent market in the last week.

It began with Eddie Goldman returning for a third stint last week. It’s the third consecutive offseason where Atlanta and Goldman agreed to a deal, but the veteran nose tackle has yet to take a single snap for the team because he’s retired shortly after signing each contract.

It was followed by Antonio Hamilton, a veteran cornerback who similarly bolsters the depth chart on the defensive side of the ball. He is entering his ninth season in the league, starting nine games last year while putting up 11 passes defended and an interception.

Then yesterday, the Falcons announced deals that once again add depth pieces to the first and third levels of the defense. Kevin King, who last played for the Packer two seasons ago, joins Atlanta because of the connections to the Falcons coaching staff.

On the same day, the club added another defensive lineman in the form of James Smith-Williams. Much like the other signings, the veteran pass rusher is nothing more than a depth piece.

We now know the prices of some of their contracts, thanks to Michael Rothstein. The Falcons beat reporter is saying Hamilton and Goldman’s deals are worth $1.21 million total.

Both are top 51 contracts as the Falcons continue to fill out their 90-man roster ahead of the NFL Draft. I would expect a few more potential free agent signings to fill out the depth chart as we inch closer to April 25.
