Falcons star Cordarrelle Patterson is happy to be staying in Atlanta. Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Falcons have had an unpleasant week, but Cordarrelle Patterson gave the team and its fans something to be pleased with on Saturday.

Patterson re-signed with the Falcons on a reported two-year deal worth $10.5 million. Coming off an impressive season with Atlanta, there was some thinking that Patterson could earn more than that. He made clear, however, that the money was not his priority in a great tweet.

Credit to Patterson for his loyalty and honesty. One can see why he trusts the Falcons to get the best out of him. They turned him into something of a hybrid player in 2021, and he responded with 1,166 all-purpose yards and 11 total touchdowns, both career bests.

The Falcons were among the big losers in the offseason news of the week. At least Patterson can take the sting out of that a little bit.
