Cordarrelle Patterson re-signs with Falcons after career year

Cordarrelle Patterson recorded career highs in rushing yards, receiving yards, rushing touchdowns and receiving touchdowns in a do-it-all role with the Atlanta Falcons last season, and he's not going anywhere.

On Saturday, the Falcons reached a two-year, $10.5 million deal with Patterson to keep him in Atlanta, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.

Patterson, 31, played for the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots and Chicago Bears before joining the Falcons in 2021. During his breakout season, he had 1,166 yards from scrimmage with 11 total touchdowns.

In January, just before the end of the season, Patterson made it clear that Atlanta was a place he wanted to stay.

"I've been around five teams, eight offensive coordinators; being here, I feel like I'm at home. Why not just finish my career here?" Patterson told the Falcons team website. "I'm comfortable with all the guys in the locker room, the coaches, you know, and everybody, so why not finish my career here?"

Patterson has earned First-Team All-Pro honors four times in his career for his contributions as a kick returner. His eight career kickoff-return touchdowns are tied for the most in NFL history.
