The Philadelphia Eagles may be looking to make some changes to their coaching staff this offseason, and that includes talking with one of their former coordinators.

Longtime sports radio host Dan Sileo reported on Thursday that the Eagles had reached out to Frank Reich to potentially be their offensive coordinator.

Sileo expounded on the matter while talking on his daily show. He said that the Eagles had reached out to Reich for a few reasons. The Eagles have explored the possibility of Reich becoming their offensive coordinator, according to Sileo. The team also reportedly wants Reich to advise them and share input regarding some of the other coaches around the league.

The Eagles had Brian Johnson as their offensive coordinator this season. He had been promoted from his position as the team’s quarterbacks coach for the previous two seasons. Sean Desai was in his first season as the team’s defensive coordinator and was replaced as a play-caller late in the season.

A different report this week said that Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and GM Howie Roseman are working together on what sort of changes can be made to their coaching staff. There was also talk in the media that the team’s coordinators were a weakness. All the information seems to point to the Eagles looking to make coaching staff changes and get some help.

Although Johnson still has the Eagles’ OC job, he has interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons’ HC vacancy.

It makes plenty of sense for the Eagles to reach out to Reich to see if he would have interest in returning to the team. Reich was the Eagles offensive coordinator in 2016 and during their 2017 Super Bowl-winning season. He also had success as the Colts head coach before being fired by Indy. He also was fired by the impatient Panthers after a 1-10 start this season. Reich would bring the Eagles experience and stability. And at the least, he could give some helpful input.

As for whether or not Sileo is a trusted source on this front, it’s worth noting that he and Reich were college teammates at Maryland in 1983. Reich has previously been a guest on Sileo’s show.
