Cowboys' Dak Prescott: 'I can go play in a game right now'

Ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft completed this past weekend, Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that quarterback Dak Prescott is "on track" in his rehabilitation from the compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle that he suffered back on Oct. 11. 

While Prescott underwent a clean-up procedure on the ankle in December, the 27-year-old two-time Pro Bowler suggested on Tuesday that he would take the field ahead of Memorial Day if asked. "I can go play in a game right now and be very, very successful," he explained, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "So there is no doubt that when I need to be successful, when I need to do the things that it takes to be on the field, I’ll do exactly that, and the timing will be right." 

Dallas signed Prescott to a four-year contract extension in March that could be worth over $160 million when all is said and done, so it's safe to assume McCarthy and company will proceed cautiously as the club's offensive CEO tests the limits of his ankle. 

In short: Prescott won't be seeing a live defense anytime soon, and understandably so.
