Cowboys DC Dan Quinn informs teams he's staying in Dallas

On Thursday morning, Nathaniel Hackett and Matt Eberflus were hired to become new head coaches of the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears, respectively. Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn -- another popular head-coaching candidate in recent weeks -- will apparently not be joining them in switching organizations.

According to multiple reports, Quinn -- who just completed his first season in Dallas -- has informed other teams that he is planning to stay with the Cowboys. Per The Athletic, Quinn had received interview requests from six different franchises (including the Bears and Broncos) to potentially be their next lead man.

The 51-year-old served as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020, compiling a 43-42 record in the regular season and 3-2 mark in the playoffs. Quinn led the Falcons to the cusp of their first-ever Super Bowl title in 2016, only to see a 28-3 lead in the second half of the championship bout disappear against the New England Patriots.

Quinn was fired from the Atlanta job after an 0-5 start to the 2020 campaign. The Orange, N.J., native also served as the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks during their two most recent Super Bowl appearances in 2013 and 2014, including the franchise's only victory in the big game in 2013.

Quinn also has experience in various NFL coaching roles on the defensive side of the ball with the San Francisco 49ers (2001-2004), Miami Dolphins (2005-2006) and New York Jets (2007-2008).
