Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb reveals approach to ongoing contract negotiations

One of the toughest things for a player to do has to be taking part in training camp while contract negotiations are ongoing. For most, you'd have to imagine that the status of negotiations would linger in their mind throughout until the deal comes together. But for Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, it doesn't seem that he's the slightest bit worried about what's happening with his contract talks while in the midst of preparing for the season.

Lamb was asked about contract negotiations, and as The Athletic's Jon Machota revealed, the 24-year-old doesn't ask his agent for constant updates about it. Instead, he simply wants his agent to bring it to him when the offer is "right" while he remains focused on being ready for Week 1.

“I told him [agent] he has full range. I just want the best of the best as far as the best for me and make sure everything is right. And when it’s right, just come let me know something. Other than that, I’m just gonna keep working, keep building with my guys, and when it comes September, we’re trying to start it off right," Lamb said.

It's an impressive approach from Lamb, who's widely viewed as a budding star (or already a star by many) in the NFL. But what makes it even more noteworthy is the fact that his teammate, Trevon Diggs, just signed a five-year, $97 million extension earlier this week.

But looking at it from the other end, there's little doubt that Lamb is going to receive a huge a contract extension, and the likelihood of things becoming rocky seems highly unlikely when everything is factored in. Lamb is coming off the best season of his career and has built an incredible rapport with quarterback Dak Prescott. Dallas doing anything to throw a wrench into what should be a very promising 2023 season would be a major plot twist.
