Dak Prescott has succinct answer regarding Zack Martin’s holdout

The old saying is that you "never talk about another person's money," which is almost always the correct approach. But as Dallas Cowboys star guard Zack Martin's training camp holdout is officially underway while he attempts to negotiate an improved deal, it's obviously been a topic of conversation with reporters and his teammates.

And when it comes to quarterback Dak Prescott? Well, he's not going to take a deep dive into discussing his teammate's negotiations or situation, but he did have one very direct response to the topic, as The Athletic's Jon Machota reported.

"Pay the man," Prescott said.

While Martin's holdout isn't ideal, it's hard to argue that he doesn't have a point. The 32-year-old has consistently been one of the NFL's best guards and is currently making an average yearly salary that lands him at No. 10 overall among guards at $14 million per year.

For comparison's sake, Martin's $14 million annually is a full $3 million less than the No. 5 player, Packers' Elgton Jenkins, and a whopping $6.5 million less than the highest-paid guard in the NFL — Atlanta Falcons' Chris Lindstrom.

It would be a pretty shocking outcome if the Cowboys and Martin can't sort out a deal that adds a bit more money to his year salary and pushes him up into the top five, at a minimum. It's unknown exactly what Martin is seeking, but the long-time Cowboys lineman has one of the strongest cases of any player on the roster to receive a pay bump.
