Dak Prescott experiencing unexpected issue with Mike McCarthy as his play-caller

The Dallas Cowboys have a new play-caller this season with head coach Mike McCarthy taking over those duties after the team parted ways with Kellen Moore.

That change is causing an unforeseen issue for quarterback Dak Prescott. He can't always understand what McCarthy is saying due to his Pittsburgh accent, via ESPN's Todd Archer.

While it may not be the most widely known or heard accent, Pittsburgh does have its very own distinct accent and dialect, and McCarthy is very proud of where he comes from. He apparently has not lost that accent in all of these years being away from the city.

In the end, this is the time for these sort of adjustments to happen. You don't want some sort of miscommunication in a playoff game because you can't totally understand what your coach is saying to you.

This is Prescott's first new play-caller since 2018 after Moore held that role since then.

Dallas' offense had a lot of success with the Moore-Prescott duo, but it started to become increasingly clear over the past season that some sort of change needed to happen.

Moore ended up leaving Dallas and became the new offensive coordinator Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.
