The Dallas Cowboys were recently urged to sign a former Washington Commanders offensive guard after Tyler Smith missed the Cowboys game Sunday night against the New York Giants with a hamstring injury.

The Cowboys didn’t seem to have many problems without Smith during their 40-0 blowout of the Giants. However, the Cowboys will be in closer games as the season progresses. One publication is urging the Cowboys to sign a veteran offensive lineman.

The Dallas Cowboys urged to sign Andrew Norwell

Bleacher Report recently published a piece identifying a free agent each NFL team could use after Week 1. All-Pro offensive guard Andrew Norwell was named as a free agent the Cowboys should add to their offensive line for the season:

“Starting left guard Tyler Smith missed Sunday night’s game against the Giants with a hamstring injury, and the Cowboys could use some depth on the interior of their offensive line anyway with rookies Asim Richards and T.J. Bass as the only backups on the roster.

Norwell would bring over some much-needed experience in the trenches for Dallas with his 127 career starts. Also, it doesn’t hurt that he played for the Commanders last year, so he has some familiarity with the NFC East.”

Norwell would be a good addition for the Cowboys. The 31-year-old offensive lineman would provide veteran depth for a young offensive line roster. While Norwell hasn’t been as effective in the previous few years as he was in the 2017 season, he could help in an emergency.
