Darius Leonard, Colts working on four-year deal worth more than $19 million per season
San Francisco 49ers All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner signed a record five-year, $95 million deal on Wednesday. However, he wasn't the only linebacker to receive a lucrative extension.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Indianapolis Colts and Darius Leonard are working on a four-year deal worth more than $19 million per season.
Leonard is set to make $3.4 million in the final season of his rookie contract in 2021. He gave a shoutout to Warner on social media following the news of his new deal.
Leonard, who turns 26 on Tuesday, was a first-team All-Pro for the second time in 2020. In 14 games with the Colts last season, the former second-round pick recorded three sacks, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 132 sacks, seven tackles for a loss and three quarterback hits.
