Well if it isn’t the back-to-back Super Bowl champion quarterback the most influential people of the year then who else? And so believe the TIME magazine as they named Patrick Mahomes as one of the Most Influential People of 2024.

Mahomes, who is fancied as the successor of the winningest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady, seemed to be gaining world recognition for his Super Bowl triumphs. The Kansas City Chiefs star may carry a dad bod during the off-season, but when it gets on the football field, he is hardly defeated.

The magazine announced the celebratory news on Tuesday, along with the magazine cover featuring the elite quarterback with an exclusive interview with them. When the Chiefs started out the 2023 season, he struggled largely with their receiving corps as they took a huge risk by going into the season with rookies. It was primarily due to the determination of Mahomes and his game planning that the Chiefs advanced to the grand Super Bowl despite having the weakest receiving squad in the league.

Against all odds, Kansas City came out with a triumph defeating the San Francisco 49ers, and became one of the only two teams in the history of the NFL to win back-to-back Super Bowl trophies. He also won his third Super Bowl MVP honor– joining the only two players Brady (5) and Joe Montana (3) with that number.

He’s now entrenched in the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) conversation.

Patrick Mahomes navigating greatness among NFL legends

Despite being one of the only five quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, when his name was included among the GOATs of the NFL, the three-time Super Bowl champion expressed a bit different opinion on that. He believes, there’s no doubt he has come so far, but he truly can’t take away the legacy players like Brady, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers have built.

There are so many guys, they were at such a high level for such a long time. In order to be in that conversation, you have to do that on a year-to-year basis. You can’t take it for granted that you did it the year before…That’s something I’ll talk about when I’m done playing…Then people can make those decisions.  Patrick Mahomes said to TIME

The moment the Chiefs drafted Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft, he became a contender. Since he took over as the starting QB, he has led the team to six consecutive AFC Championship games and four Super Bowl appearances.
