Davante Adams nearing breaking point with Raiders after loss to Steelers

The Las Vegas Raiders dropped to 1-2 on the season with a 23-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. Following the game, wide receiver Davante Adams didn't mince words, claiming the team is "not doing things the right way to establish a winning culture early in the season."

"I don't act like it's all crazy — it's Week 3 — but I don't got time to wait around," Adams said. "It's not a personal thing. I mean, it is a personal thing, but it ain't just about me. It's not my mentality to sit here and try to take all season to try and figure it out."

Adams was his typical dominant self against Pittsburgh, hauling in 13 of 20 targets for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Despite his continued production, the Raiders have struggled to find consistency offensively, ranking 25th in yards per game (287.7) and 29th in scoring (15.0 ppg).

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who was brought in this offseason to replace Adams' close friend and former college teammate Derek Carr, has tossed a league-high six interceptions.

Since Adams arrived in Las Vegas last season, the Raiders have accumulated a 7-13 record. At 30 years old and in the mid-to-latter end of his prime, Adams isn't at the point of his career where he's comfortable playing for a team wallowing in mediocrity as they try to figure things out.

Adams sparked trade speculation this offseason when he told Mirin Fader of The Ringer that he and the organization "don't see eye-to-eye on what we think is best for us right now."

Expect that trade chatter to mount over the coming weeks if Las Vegas doesn't quickly turn their season around, as the two parties appear to remain at odds.
