It was a much better showing in Week for the Los Angeles Rams when they earned their first win of the season against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.

The Rams raced out to a 28-3 lead — much to the dismay of Falcons fans — but somehow nearly lost after a host of mistakes. Fortunately, Los Angeles was able to recover in the closing moments to seal the victory after a Jalen Ramsey interception in the end zone.

Rookie Decobie Durant got on the field after Troy Hill suffered a groin injury, and he immediately made an impact when he recorded his first career interception and sack. Durant recalled how he felt during the game, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

“It felt amazing, dream come true,” Durant said with a big smile. “It’s just something I’ve been wanting all my life. I just took advantage of my opps when my name got called. Just building that trust with the veterans to have me out there, just blessed on that opportunity.”

As far as execution on the plays, Durant noted he was able to see the play develop and capitalize on his opportunity:

“Tips and overthrows, you got to execute on them,” Durant said. “It was easy just seeing that the ball was coming out his hands. I was like, ‘Dang, here it go!’ I caught my pick, and I’m like, ‘Get it to the crib!’ Then I see Marcus Mariota and I’m like, ‘Man, I’m finna give him a move.’ I broke the tackle, as I’m spinning around, I see a big offensive lineman, I’m like, ‘Man, this finna end bad!’ I just executed, and then I recorded my first sack as well. They trust me a bit to blitz off the edge, I just took advantage of the opportunity.”

The rookie defensive back had a knack for making plays in college, and it looks like that translated over to the pros. His performance against the Falcons should allow him to see the field more in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals, especially with Hill headed to IR and expected to miss at least the next four games.
