Deshaun Watson: 'Would have been hell' if Texans traded Will Fuller

Despite a plethora of rumors, receiver Will Fuller was not traded before the deadline and will remain with the Houston Texans for the rest of the season. Perhaps nobody was more excited by that news than Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, who admitted it would have been a nightmare to lose another receiver to trade.

"It would have been hell if they would have did that, for sure," Watson said. "Honestly. I'm glad to continue to play with Will. We've been making a lot of big, big plays since I came into this league, [and we're] going to continue to do that as we continue to go the rest of this year and hopefully the rest of our careers."

Watson is familiar with losing his favorite targets, as Houston infamously traded superstar receiver DeAndre Hopkins, along with a fourth-round pick, to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for running back David Johnson and a second-round pick. With the Texans off to an anemic start, many assumed the team would also be willing to deal Fuller, who still provides a lot of upside. And it certainly doesn't hurt that he is relatively cheap, with only a $10 million salary for this season.

The Packers were considered the favorites to land the 26-year-old receiver, who reportedly generated "a lot of interest" heading into the trade deadline last week. But Texans chairman and CEO Cal McNair said the team was planning to make "no big moves" and McNair insisted the team is not giving up on its season despite the slow start.
