The Detroit Lions returned to the practice field Thursday, looking to make corrections in all phases, even after a narrow victory against the defending Super Bowl champions.
Cornerbacks Khalil Dorsey and Emmanuel Moseley were observed present but not participating during the portion of Thursday's practice open to media. Offensive Taylor Decker, who is dealing with an ankle injury, was not present.
Dorsey was listed on the injury report Wednesday with an illness, while Moseley continues to work his way back from a knee injury suffered last season.
The Lions face a tough test in Week 2 against Seattle, a team that rolled over their defense in last season's meeting. Many of the Seahawks' key players return this year and create concerns for Detroit's defense.
"I know this head coach well and the one thing they're gonna try to do, they're gonna try to run the ball. That's his background, that's who he is," said defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. "So the same thing that I talked about last week, we're gonna have to do this week, we're gonna have to really commit to stopping the run because they will run you out of the stadium if you don't. We also have to stop these explosive passes because they have receivers that can take you down. We have to do a good job with that. This quarterback, he's been playing really good. And I was with him in New York when we drafted him, so I know him fairly well. So I'm proud of how he's operating right now. But I want to beat him bad."
Seahawks hurting along offensive line
The Seahawks will likely be without both of their starting tackles Sunday. Abraham Lucas and Charles Cross both suffered injuries in their season opener, with Lucas being placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
Seattle has taken measures to address this, signing Jason Peters, Raiqwon O'Neal and McClendon Curtis to add depth at the tackle spots.
"They're both hurting, so we'll see how this goes. You'll see us be a little bit active," Pete Carroll told local reporters. "We already got Jason Peters in here, which is a remarkable thing in itself going into his 20th season. So you'll see us, we're gonna respond to how they wind up doing this week."
