The Detroit Lions know that their championship window may be limited due to the number of outstanding teams propping up in the NFC. While there have been analysts claiming that the Lions’ chance of winning their first Super Bowl title has come and gone, the team isn’t stopping in bringing over elite talent.
One of their most interesting signings this offseason is Amik Robertson. The former Las Vegas Raider may only be tied to the team for two years, but he has the potential of extending his stay if he manages to help the team realize their dream.
And that’s exactly his plan is when the 2024 season comes around.
Amik Robertson wants to win a Super Bowl with the Detroit Lions
During his introductory press conference, he didn’t mince words when it comes to his objectives with joining the Lions. He straight up asserted that he will do everything in his power to help the team bring a Super Bowl to the Motor City for the first time in its history.
Per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:
“That’s what got me here. That’s what got me here and that’s what’s keeping me in this league,” Robertson said Monday in a video call with Detroit reporters. “Five-eight, coming from Louisiana Tech, like come on, man. It’s not easy. But being a confident guy and playing with that swagger, playing with that energy, that’s what got me here.”
He also showcased his willingness to play multiple positions if it meant the Detroit Lions will win more games:
“I’m a football player, man,” he said. “I wish I would have known what I know now as far as being ahead of the game, that (way) I could learn safety so I could be playing safety. … Wherever you put me on the field, I’ll do what I can to fit in with myself and the position to make plays and continue to be successful.”
He’s had a successful career so far. While he didn’t get plenty of opportunities during his first two years with the Raiders, he eventually broke out in 2022.
Throughout his four years with the team, he notched four interceptions for 47 yards, six pass deflections, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery for 68 yards and a touchdown, two sacks, and 111 total tackles.
He will be a fine addition to Dan Campbell’s team, and he has the perfect personality that will make him a darling among the Den.
