Did Bill Belichick reach out to Tom Brady after Super Bowl win with Buccaneers?

It appears some misjudged the relationship between Tom Brady and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick as it pertains to Brady's exit from New England.

During Brady's latest media tour somewhat related to his commitment to remaining retired, TB12 told ESPN that Belichick "was one of the first people to text me after we won the Super Bowl in Tampa."

Brady was with the Patriots from 2000 through the 2019 season until he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent amid the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was subsequently rumored and speculated Brady's departure from New England was linked with some falling out involving Belichick, and the coach did little to silence such chatter when he initially declined to reveal if he congratulated Brady after the signal-caller guided the Buccaneers to their Super Bowl LV win over the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2021.

"I think I'll keep those conversations privately between myself and the other people that are involved," Belichick responded in June 2021 when asked if he reached out to Brady following the Super Bowl win, per NESN. "Appreciate the question."

The NESN piece added that "Belichick has been known to reach out and congratulate former Patriots players, including quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, on accomplishments."

Brady indicated during the conversation with ESPN that he and Belichick never had any supposed blowup before or after March 2020.

"Were there times where you know it wasn't always eye to eye? Very few and far between, actually. I still envision our relationship as positive and always will," Brady said about Belichick.

Belichick should be working on the sidelines when the Patriots honor Brady before and during their home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 10. One wonders if Belichick would consider an active Brady the best quarterback on the New England roster today.
