Tom Brady's father discusses son's relationship with Bill Belichick

Tom Brady's departure from the New England Patriots was shocking, and while there's speculation that Bill Belichick drove a partition between himself and the 42-year-old quarterback, Brady's father, Tom Brady Sr., made it seem otherwise.

"Bill's got a lot of responsibilities to keep the Patriots on track and that is a bigger responsibility than keeping Tommy under the hood," Brady Sr. said on Dell and Sonya Curry's "Raising Fame: Sports Edition" podcast, as transcribed by 247 Sports' Brad Crawford. "So, both of them are mature individuals and I really respect Bill's decision and respect Tommy's decision as well. It's okay to take different paths. You don't have to stay joined at the hip."

Brady spent 20 years with Belichick and became one of the best QBs of all time. It's quite clear there's no animosity between the duo, at least according to Brady Sr.

"I mean, I can't tell you the hundreds of times that Tommy has said Bill is the best coach in football," Brady Sr. said. "Tommy sings Bill's praises."

It seems that both Brady and Belichick wanted to begin new paths without one another. Both have a desire to prove themselves without the other, and only time will tell how that endeavor goes.

With Bruce Arians and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady will get his first taste of a new organization and different head coach for the first time in his career.
