Disturbing details of Jaguars' Telvin Smith's arrest emerge
Police arrested former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith last month on some pretty disturbing chargers. The 29-year-old was charged with unlawful sexual activity with minors, and the arrest was a continuation of an ongoing investigation that began in 2019, according to The Spun's Andrew McCarty.
New details emerged on Wednesday of the alleged misconduct, and Smith reportedly had sex with an underage girl more than once and paid her after, according to the report.
Here's what the report stated, according to McCarty:
"According to a warrant for his arrest warrant in the case, Smith had sex on multiple occasions with an underage girl. The report says Smith knew the girl was underage and that he once gave her a one-hundred-dollar bill after sex. She told police she used the money to buy emergency contraception. The girl told police they had sex at his Queens Harbor mansion as well as in Smith’s Cadillac Escalade."
Smith announced his plans to skip the 2019 season, but did not state the reason for his NFL hiatus.
In five seasons with the Jaguars, Smith recorded nine interceptions, five forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 7.5 sacks and 446 solo tackles. On top of that, he added 52 tackles for a loss and 11 quarterback hits.
With these latest charges and investigation, it seems unlikely that Smith would return to the NFL. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait and see how the legal proceedings continue.
