Dolphins GM: Tua Tagovailoa is our starter

Tua Tagovailoa had a less-than-ideal rookie season with the Miami Dolphins. He certainly was not a disaster, but he did not end up blowing many fans away, especially in comparison to rookie sensation Justin Herbert, who was taken just one pick after Tagovailoa. The mixed results have some wondering if the Dolphins would consider moving on from their rookie, but Miami general manager Chris Grier said that Tua will be the team's starter heading into next season.

"We want to be clear—Tua is our starter and we are pleased with his development," Grier told reporters.

The biggest reason some people have wondered if the Dolphins would add some competition is that Miami currently holds the No. 3 pick in the draft via the Houston Texans. While the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets could both certainly take quarterbacks with the top two picks, that would still leave Miami with the chance to grab a potentially elite gun-slinger. It looks like the Dolphins have no interest in drafting a quarterback, however, and Tagovailoa will be the starting quarterback heading into the 2021 season, barring injury.

Next season will be a big one for Tua. He will need to develop his skills over the offseason to prove to any doubters that he is Miami's long-term answer at quarterback. If he struggles like he did this season, questions about his abilities will only grow louder, with some wondering if the Dolphins would be better off with someone else under center.
