Dolphins request interview with Bills' Leslie Frazier for head coaching job

The Dolphins already requested to interview one Bills coordinator for their head coaching vacancy. Now they want to talk to another.

Miami requested to interview Buffalo defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier on Wednesday, per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, just days after also requesting to speak with Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Frazier, 62, already has a request from the Bears as well.

Frazier began his coaching career in the collegiate realm before jumping to the NFL in 1999 as the defensive backs coach for the Eagles. He continued to climb the ladder until finally becoming interim head coach of the Vikings in 2010, a position that was converted to full-time head coach the following season.

The Vikings fired Frazier following the 2013 season, as he finished with a 21-32-1 record over his three-plus seasons.

Frazier then went on to be the Buccaneers' defensive coordinator for two seasons before signing on as the Ravens' secondary coach. He held that position for just one season before the Bills coaxed him away to be their defensive coordinator, where he has been ever since in addition to taking on assistant head coach duties prior to the 2020 season.

The Dolphins job became unexpectedly open after Miami fired coach Brian Flores following three seasons, as he finished 24-25 including a 9-8 effort in 2021. They have already requested a number of interviews for the position in addition to Frazier and Daboll, including Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.
