Dolphins work out former first-round pick Reuben Foster

The Miami Dolphins have had a whirlwind of an offseason, not only bringing in the likes of wide receiver Tyreek Hill and new head coach Mike McDaniel, but recently signing cornerback Xavien Howard to a historic contract extension as well. Now, they may be looking at adding a former standout Alabama linebacker and first-round draft selection who hasn't played in an NFL game since 2018.

During his four seasons with the Crimson Tide, Foster recorded 223 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss, nine passes defended and 7.0 sacks. Foster was named a consensus All-American and the winner of the Dick Butkus Award as a senior in 2016 when he had career highs in total tackles (115), tackles for loss (13) and sacks (5.0).

The recently turned 28-year-old registered 72 tackles, seven tackles for loss and five quarterback hits over 10 games as a rookie and finished third in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. Foster was suspended for the first two games in the 2018 campaign for violating the league's personal conduct policy and then was released by the 49ers in November of that year after being arrested for domestic violence.

He was claimed off of waivers by Washington three days after his release but was placed on the commissioner's exempt list. Foster tore his ACL and LCL in 2019 and hasn't played in a game since.
