Drew Brees says he's undecided about future, speculates about NFL return
Earlier on Sunday, Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reported that future Hall of Famer Drew Brees wouldn't be returning to his analyst role with NBC, parting with the company after one season.
Brees responded to the report with a tweet later in the evening, stating, among other things, that he may return to playing in the NFL.
"Despite speculation from media about my future this fall, I'm currently undecided," Brees tweeted. "I may work for NBC, I may play football again, I may focus on business and philanthropy, I may train for the pickleball tour, senior golf tour, coach my kids or all of the above. I'll let you know."
Joking or not, Brees' future is genuinely uncertain. He neither confirmed nor denied Marchand's report that he was leaving NBC, so it appears all options are on the table.
Before his final season in the NFL, Brees reportedly turned down an offer from ESPN to take a job with NBC.
The 43-year-old played 20 seasons in the NFL for the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints.
In 287 career games, Brees finished with a 67.7 completion percentage, throwing for 80,358 yards and 571 touchdowns.
In 2010, Brees earned MVP honors leading the Saints to a win in Super Bowl XLIV. A 13-time Pro-Bowler, Brees was a two-time AP Offensive Player of the Year honoree while being named to the All-Pro team once in his career.
Brees ranks second in the NFL in all-time passing yards and touchdowns.
