Eagles' 4-0 start puts them in prime playoff position

The 4-0 Eagles are the NFL's only unbeaten team and in prime position to earn a playoff berth. Dating to 1990, 83.7 percent of teams that have started 4-0 made the playoffs. Over the past five seasons, no team has missed the playoffs after winning its first four games.

The last team that went undefeated in the first four games and missed the playoffs was the Denver Broncos, who finished 9-7 in 2016. The Chiefs and Raiders each finished ahead of them in the AFC West with 12-4 records.

Vegas has also taken notice of the Eagles' strong start. Following the Week 4 victory, the Eagles are considered -2000 favorites to make the playoffs. Their odds of winning the NFC East have jumped to -300. Before the season, the Eagles' odds to win the division were +165, second behind the Cowboys (+135).

After four games, the Eagles also have climbed to the third among favorites to play in the Super Bowl, trailing the Bills and Chiefs.

For the short term, the Eagles are focused on the Arizona Cardinals, their Week 5 opponent. But their long-term goal, to make the playoffs, seems well in hand.
